Ruby Sharks are active and territorial freshwater fish, known for their striking red fins and sleek black bodies. To keep them healthy, it’s important to provide a well-maintained environment and suitable tank mates.

These fish need a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots created by rocks, driftwood, and plants, which help them feel secure and reduce stress. Ruby Sharks are semi-aggressive, particularly towards fish of similar shape or size, so it's best to keep them with other species that are fast swimmers and not easily intimidated. They do well in tanks with plenty of room to establish their territory.

Maintaining good water quality is crucial for Ruby Sharks. They prefer slightly warmer water, between 74-80°F (23-27°C). Regular water changes and efficient filtration help keep the water clean and free from toxins. Ensure the water has a neutral to slightly acidic pH, around 6.5-7.5, to mimic their natural habitat. Ruby Sharks are sensitive to changes in water quality, so frequent monitoring is essential.

These fish are omnivores and appreciate a varied diet. Offer them a mix of high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp to keep them healthy and vibrant. Ruby Sharks are also known to graze on algae, which can help keep the tank clean. By providing a balanced diet and stable environment, you can ensure your Ruby Shark remains active and healthy.
